Lebanon, Oregon- Saturday, August 31st witnessed the second and final night of the Iron Giant weekend at Willamette Speedway. It is one of the biggest paying Street Stock races in the entire Pacific Northwest and the biggest Street Stock event at the Lebanon 1/3-mile clay oval. The Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, and Sportsman were also in action. The Big Sky Landscaping IMCA Stock Car series were on the card as well, and their race is covered in a separate race report.

David Cronk once again was in dominant form when it came to the Road To The Iron Giant Street Stock Series feature. The Portland native swept the weekend and picked up his first career Iron Giant trophy. He has won against the series three times now in 2019.

David’s nephew Sean Cronk, also of Portland, was second while grabbing third would be Chase Berkeley making the long journey from Colville, Washington. Cottage Grove’s Kelly McDonald, racing for car owners Tom and Joan Langan, was fourth over fifth finishing Jack Parshall, of Hoquiam, Washington. Gresham native Kevin Roberts won the consolation main event.

Justin Duty once more inhabited the winner’s circle in the Super Late Models. The Mulino driver swept the weekend and brought his win total to four feature wins at Willamette this year. Salem veteran Jeremy Shank placed second and Scio’s Steve Moore, once again racing for car owner Jody Tanner, ended his night in third. Jeff Rash, from Lebanon, was scored fourth while fellow Lebanon chauffeur Randy Boyd ended his night in fifth.

Stayton’s Grey Ferrando made it back to victory lane after a bit of a hiatus. It is Ferrando’s second win at Lebanon this year. Redmond driver B.J. Wild was the runner-up over third finishing Bricen James, from Albany. Warren’s Brad Martin crossed the wire in fourth and Lebanon teenager McLain Beaudoin rounded up the top five, in fifth.

Vahn Stone got the job done in the Super Sport ranks. Now residing in Scotts Mills, Stone, lifted his third trophy in the air this season. Steve Moore, pulling double duty and running for B.J. Donofrio, earned second. Salem’s Steve Fuller and Brian Winkler, of Newberg, finished third and fourth respectively. Wrapping up the top five order was James Slover, of Lebanon, in fifth.

Lastly, in Sportsman competition, Jeff Rash emerged on top at the drop of the checkered. Rash, racing in two different classes, won his second Sportsman main of the current campaign. Albany’s Brad Hopkins was an impressive second over third placer Stacy Kreger, of Millersburg. Hometown driver, from Lebanon, Andy Breshears got fourth, and Portland pilot Brian Brown was credited with fifth.

Willamette Speedway has a quick turnaround before the next race. The biggest show of the entire calendar will be on Wednesday, September 4th, for the return of the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series. The Interstate Sprint Car Series will be on hand as the support division.

Reserved seats are on sale for $50.00 each. General Admission for Adults are $40.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $35.00, and Kids (12 and Under) 15.00. Pit Passes are $55.00 each.
