Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway got some racing in on Friday, May 24th, for the opening leg of the 2019 Clair Cup. The race is run in honor of longtime owner/operator, the late Clair Arnold, and has been one of the track’s biggest events on the schedule. A full card of classes occupied the bill including Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Joey Tanner, of Portland, continues to keep intact his impeccable record in the Super Late Models. Joey is a perfect four for four in the division. In the IMCA Modified ranks Bricen James got the job done, making it the second occasion the Albany youngster has bested the field. Salem’s B.J. Donofrio is on a bit of a hot streak in the Super Sports after capturing his second straight win of the season.

After a brief hiatus, Tom Yeack, of Crawfordsville, returned to victory lane in the Sportsman ranks for his third win this year. The same case could be said for Justin Evans, as the Lebanon driver, now has achieved two wins in the Street Stocks. Lastly, Eddie Farness parked it on the front stretch for the second straight week in the Hornets for his second triumph in 2019.

Racing resumes Saturday, May 25th, for the finale of the 2019 Clair Cup. All six classes from Friday will be returning for a second dosage of action. Don’t forget that Sunday afternoon the Valley Wide UTV Shootout Series are expected to have their second race of the year.
