Lebanon, Oregon- The final bout of action for the 2018 season at Willamette Speedway took place on Saturday, September 22nd. The 1/3-mile clay oval hosted the Les Schwab Tire Center Championship Night/Beer Cup with seven divisions all on the card. Over 100 entries filled the pit area including Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, IMCA Sport Mods, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Jimmy Whisler, from the coastal town of Otis, bested the Super Late Model ranks for his only triumph of the campaign. Portland’s Joey Tanner emerged from the dust as the 2018 Willamette Speedway Super Late Model champion. Albany ace Dustin Cady once again would take care of business in the IMCA Modified division. For Cady it marked his seventh win of the season at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval putting him on top of the win list for the campaign. Stayton native Grey Ferrando was on top of the points table to obtain the 2018 IMCA Modified championship.

Salem’s Doug Elkins put the final nail in his title searching season in the Super Sports. Elkins obtained his seventh victory as well as the 2018 Super Sport championship. The same case happened in the IMCA Sport Mods with Jorddon Braaten. Braaten, of Central Point, collected his seventh win while also gaining the 2018 IMCA Sport Mod title. Albany veteran Todd Miller cracked off a late season Sportsman win for his only triumph of the year. Corvallis’ Ryan Emry held off all challengers in the point chase to win the 2018 Sportsman championship.

Justin Evans put forth one last successful effort in the Street Stock division. Evans ended the year with six trips to victory lane and the most winningest pilot in the class. However, Dakota Godard, now living in Albany, was the winner of the championship in both the Street Stocks and IMCA Stock Cars. It is the first time since 2014, with Bricen James, that a driver has won multiple track championships in the same season. Matt Diller crossed the wire first for the second time in the Hornet division. While Diller won the battle K.C. Scott, of Springfield, won the war for the 2018 Hornet title.

That is a wrap to the 2018 season. We thank all the drivers, teams, fans, and staff for a wonderful year of racing. Be sure and stay tuned on www.trophymotorsports.com or the OFFICIAL Facebook page for the latest information regarding the championship banquet, 2019 Schedule, rule, and etc.
