Dan Deibele Gets Big Late Model Win On Outlaw Night

Lebanon, Oregon- With the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series inhabiting Willamette Speedway on Wednesday, September 5th, so would the local Super Late Model division. The class played the role as the support division and a pretty good crop of cars came out for a rare mid-week show. Fourteen entries inhabited the pits with drivers travelling from all over the state of Oregon.
Tigard’s Mark Thompson took full advantage of his front row starting position in the main event. Thompson held down the top spot only for Dan Deibele to pass him via the middle of the race track around the halfway mark. Deibele, of Lebanon, navigated some heavy lapped traffic but managed to retain the coveted top spot. Dan Deibele went on to win the main event for his first triumph of 2018.
Bend veteran Darren Coffell was the runner-up while Joey Tanner, from Portland, was third. The rest of the top five included Mark Thompson, in fourth, while the fifth finisher being Greg Walters, out of Banks and racing for car owner Jerry Schram.
Bend’s Thomas Hunziker was the quick qualifier during time trials with Joey Tanner winning the trophy dash. Ryan Emry, of Corvallis, and Joey Tanner were the two heat race victors.
Willamette Speedway will take this weekend off and returns for action on Saturday, September 15th. Classes scheduled on the card include Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets. The evening is being billed as Protect The Crops/Thank A Farmer Night.
Tickets are $14.00 for Adults, Junior/Military/Senior $10.00, Youth (6-12) $5.00, 5 and Under FREE, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) $35.00.
