Willamette Speedway Gearing Up For Busy Three Race Strawberry Cup Weekend

Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway will once again have an extremely busy weekend on their hands as the historic 1/3-mile clay oval prepares for Strawberry Cup weekend. It all kicks off Friday, June 1st, with the first Fast Friday of 2018 which includes a special $5.00 General Admission ticket or $7.00 for two people, Saturday, the 2nd, will have the prestigious Strawberry Cup, presented by Bar S Motorsports, on the bill, while Sunday, the 3rd, has the Karts cap off the entire three-race extravaganza. Classes racing on Friday include the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, and IMCA Stock Cars while Saturday features Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and IMCA Stock Cars.
On Saturday there will be some cash bonuses up for grabs courtesy of Willamette Speedway. All Trophy Dash winners will receive a $50.00 bonus. Winners of each heat race will get an extra $15.00 and second place in each heat will collect $10.00.
In four Super Late Model races there have been four different winners. Rob Mayea, Joey Tanner, Trent Elliott, and 2018 Clair Cup champion Casey Vitale have all graced victory lane. Will the winning trend continue or will one of these previous winner’s rise to the occasion and become the first repeat winner of the season.
Collen Winebarger is on quite the hot streak in the IMCA Modifieds. Winebarger swept last week’s action bringing his Modified total wins to four at Willamette. The only other driver to have won thus far is John Campos with a single victory to his credit.
B.J. Donofrio, like Collen Winebarger, would sweep last weekend in the Super Sports. Donofrio is the only multi-main event winner while three drivers with one trip to the winner’s circle include Doug Elkins, Chris Mott, and Randy Barley.
Jorddon Braaten leads the win column in IMCA Sport Mod competition. Braaten has two triumphs at Willamette while both Justin McCreadie and Mike Medel each have won once. James Slover, Tom Yeack, and Steve Piefer are the three different winners in as many races in the Sportsman class.
With his victory last Saturday Kyle Yeack became the first multi-feature winner of the campaign in the Street Stocks, with two. Kevin Roberts, Dakota Godard, and Collen Winebarger all have one win to their names. Brad Gentry is the only IMCA Stock Car division winner of 2018.
Friday the Pit Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM, Hot Laps 6:00, and Racing at 7:00. As mentioned above General Admission is $5.00 per person or $7.00 for two people.
Saturday the Pit Gates open at 1:00 PM, Front Gates 3:30, and Racing at 6:00. Tickets are $14.00 for Adults, Junior/Military/Senior $10.00, Youth (6-12) $5.00, 5 and Under FREE, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) $35.00. Tickets can be purchased online at www.pnwdirtracing.com .
On Sunday, June 3rd the Kage Karts will have their second race of the 2018 campaign and is being billed as the Mini Strawberry Cup presented by Bar S Motorsports. Pit Gates open at 9:00 AM, Pit Meeting at 11:30, Hot Laps at Noon. Grandstand Admission is FREE and Pit Passes are $15.00. Entry fees for Money Classes are $40.00 while Trophy Classes are $35.00.
