Lebanon, Oregon- After last weekend’s disappointing cancellation Willamette Speedway will once again try to have it’s first racing event of 2018 on Saturday, April 21st. The historic 1/3-mile has five classes on deck this weekend and should bring some good racing for all fans to witness. Classes include the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Super Sports, IMCA Stock Cars, and Hornets. This will be the big debut for two new regular classes to Willamette: Sport Mods and Stock Cars.
We caught up with Street Stock chauffeur Kyndal Irvine and defending Sportsman champion James Slover regarding his 2018 plans.
“I’m going to try to stay mostly local at Willamette this year and run for points again,” stated Irvine, “I got fifth last year and I’m really looking forward to moving up in points but having fun at the same time.”
“I’m looking forward to having a great year,” said Slover, “I’ll be racing in both Sportsman and Super Sport but as of right now I’m probably going to concentrate on the Super Sport more this season. But it’s still up in the air.”
We ask that fans and race teams keep a close eye on our website or Facebook page for weather updates. We will keep everyone posted on weather conditions and whether we will be capable of racing.
Pit Gates open at 1:00 PM, Front Gates 3:30, and Racing at 6:00. Tickets are $14.00 for Adults, Junior/Military/Senior $10.00, Youth (6-12) $5.00, 5 and Under FREE, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) $35.00. For more information log on to www.trophymotorsports.com.
