NEW WILLAMETTE KART DIRECTOR AND 2017 SCHEDULE RELEASED

Lebanon, Oregon- As 2017 brings a brand new racing season it will also bring a new director of the Karting program at Willamette Speedway this summer. Jason Sucich, from Salem, will take over the top spot and is excited for the upcoming campaign.
“If there’s one main objective I have in mind it’s to rebuild the summer Kart program at Willamette,” stated Sucich, “I want to get attendance back up and get new karts to come out. I got some ideas on how to reintroduce the Speedway Karts and might even have a chance to have some Flat Track Bikes come down to race.”
Willamette Speedway will be moving from Friday night to Sundays in hopes of attracting a bigger Kart count due to family work schedules and better traffic conditions for teams traveling from the Portland area. The facility has twelve races planned (full schedule below) for 2017 beginning on May 7th and ending on September 17th. There is a rain date reserved for the 24th of September just in case the 17th is washed out. Start times and other miscellaneous information will be released in a later press release.
“I want to let all Kart teams know that I’m always open for discussion. I would love to hear from the racers for what they think needs improvement. I believe in listening to the racers because if I don’t make it better for them they won’t show up.”
Sucich has been the Race Director at Salem Indoor Speedway since the 2015-16 winter season and had the same role at Albany Motorsports Park from 2015 to 2016. For the latest information regarding Willamette Speedway be sure and check out www.trophymotorsports.com or follow along on Facebook.
