7th Annual Wild West Modified Shootout Readies For New Campaign
By Ben Deatherage
Modified fans across the country get ready for one of the fastest growing staples of the summer racing season. The 2017 Wild West Modified Shootout will be on tap for the seventh straight year and plans to feature cars from all over the Pacific Northwest and abroad. This year there will be eight races over the course of nine nights. The most obvious change, compared to years past, is the three-day finale at Willamette Speedway, in Lebanon, Oregon, from June 29th-July 1st.

The series kicks off with its only non-Oregon event at Yreka, California’s Siskiyou Motor Speedway on Friday, June 23rd. Southern Oregon Speedway will play host on the 24th before a two-day stand at Cottage Grove Speedway on the 26th and 27th. Tuesday, the 27th, will be reserved for the one and only day off before action resumes at Sunset Speedway Park, in Banks, on the 28th followed by the aforementioned three-race finale at Willamette.

Kellen Chadwick would be the man to beat in last year’s Wild West Modified Shootout winning four of the six completed events. It ties for the most wins in a single Shootout with Brian Poppa who won four shows in the inaugural edition back in 2011. Ryan Gaylord and Mark Wauge were the only other winners in 2016.

Each race will be $1,000.00 to win and $100.00 to start. A full breakdown of nightly payout can be found below this release. As has been the case for the last two Wild West Modified Shootouts the fine folks at Speed Shift TV will be providing live lap-to-lap coverage of every single round. Be sure and stay tuned to the Wild West Modified Shootout Facebook page for the latest news and updates.
