Willamette Speedway Returns For Les Schwab Championship Weekend; Karts On Friday

Lebanon, Oregon- The final round of competition for the 2016 season is next for Willamette Speedway. Championship Weekend, presented by Les Schwab Tires, will begin on Friday, September 23rd for Karts and concludes with Saturday, the 24th. Saturday night will see all six regular classes in action for the final time. These include the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.
General Admission to the Friday Kart race will be FREE of charge. Pit Passes are $10.00 and Car and Driver fees will be $30.00. The Pit Gate will open up around 4:00 PM and Racing is scheduled to begin around 6:30.
Rob Mayea is atop the Late Model point standings and the win the chart in 2016. Mayea has scored four victories including the most recent race for the class on Sunday, September 4th. Drivers with two wins include Joey Tanner, Justin Duty, and Jeremy Shank while single-race victors include Collen Winebarger and Brian Cronk.
Although he hasn’t made every race this year, Collen Winebarger has been the dominant IMCA Modified driver at Willamette. Winebarger has four wins including the Wednesday, September 7th non-point event. Kyle Yeack and John Campos managed to obtain two victories while Matthew Drager, Dustin Cady, Justin Dittman, Jesse Williamson, and Lane Zerbin have parked it in the winner’s circle once.
In the Super Sport ranks Brian Thompson has been grabbing the trophies. Thompson has put together a respectable seven-win race season. Randy Barley is next in line with the most victories with his three while Brian Winkler has two. Dan Deibele and Sean Cronk have made it to victory lane one time each.
The Sportsman division has practically been owned by Tom Yeack in 2016. Yeack has nine wins in the division but there have been some new winners in the last few races. Jeff Rash, Casey Rhoades, Todd Miller, and Ryan Emry have all scored one victory so far.
Justin Evans, Kyle Yeack, and David Cronk are tied for the most wins in the Street Stocks. The three pilots have managed to win three times this season. Chris Sine and Kevin Roberts have two while the list of single-race winners includes Mikey Brakeall, Jody Tanner, Andrew Langan, Donald Schott, and Shannon Horn.
In the Hornets, two drivers have dominated all year long. Tracy Muse has lion’s share of the races, seven, while five wins have gone to Rowe Lovvorn. Tylor Owen is the only other feature winner.
Saturday tickets are $14.00 for Adults, Juniors/Seniors/Military $10.00, Youths $5.00, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) $35.00. Front Gates open at 3:30 PM and Racing kicks off at 6:00. For more information, log on to www.trophymotorsports.com.
