Rob Mayea Wins Night One Of 2016 Clair Cup; Winebarger, Diebele, T. Yeack, And Lovvorn Also Get Willamette Victories

Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway would host the first night of the 2016 Clair Cup. The Clair Cup is ran in the memory of longtime track owner/promoter Clair Arnold. Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Hornets were all in action.
Rob Mayea of Remdond would be a rocket ship in the Super Late Model feature. Mayea would win his second race at Willamette in 2016 and was the first time he had won a Clair Cup feature since 2012. Salem’s Jeremy Shank was second followed by Justin Duty, now living in Molalla, in third. The balance of the top five consisted of Collen Winebarger, of Corbett, in fourth, while finishing fifth was Greg Walters, from Banks, in the Jimmy Schram owned entry.
Collen Winebarger, pulling double duty, got the job done in the IMCA Modifieds. It would be Winebarger’s second Modified triumph at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval and third overall at the facility. Albany’s Craig Cassell was the runner-up and fellow Albany native Matthew Drager was behind him in third. Jerry Schram, from Vancouver, Washington, placed fourth and crossing the stripe in fifth was John Campos of Keizer.
Dan Deibele of Lebanon was the guy to beat in the Super Sports. It was Deibele’s first win of the current campaign. Albany driver Randy Barley finished second and capturing third was Brian Brown of Portland. Sean Cronk, also from Portland, got fourth and Vancouver, Washington’s Jerry Casey placed fifth.
Tom Yeack continued his dominating season by picking up yet another win. Yeack, of Crawfordsville, now has five total visits to the winner’s circle this year. Chad Slover of Lebanon was a respectable second and Mulino driver Jeff Marson got third. Albany’s Justin Evans placed fourth and Brownsville chauffeur Gary Archer got fifth.
Last but not least was the Hornets. Rowe Lovorn, out of Albany, would win her third win of the season. Tracy Muse was second and Phil Lovvorn managed to finish third. Barry Lampert and Zack Tokstad were fourth and fifth respectively.
The Clair Cup continues this Sunday July 3rd. Tickets are $14.00 for Adults, Juniors/Seniors/Military $10.00, Youths $5.00, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) $35.00. Front Gates open at 3:30 PM and Racing kicks off at 6:30. And drivers we want to let you know that the pit meeting has been moved up to 3:30 PM for each day.
