Mooresville, North Carolina- The Tar Heel state of North Carolina will be represented in this year’s Wild West Modified Shootout. Mooresville’s Austin Bloom, originally from the lake town of Lowell, Oregon, returns to his old stomping grounds for at least three races of this year’s tour. He will primarily be competing in the Bloom Family Racing/Dan Herman Consulting/Mohawk Metal Company/Raceprint.com #31 Harris by High Side at Cottage Grove Speedway on Monday June 13th and Willamette Speedway, in Lebanon, on Wednesday June 15th. He also plans to switch to the Bloom Family Racing/Dan Herman Consulting/Mohawk Metal Company/Raceprint.com #33E Sardison on Tuesday June 14th.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back up there,” said Bloom, “I haven’t raced since last September at Cottage Grove.”

While Austin Bloom has been out of the seat of a race car for over six months he has been no stranger to race tracks across the country. He currently is the crew chief for one of the top Modified teams on the planet at Kyle Strickler Motorsports. So far the team has won four features and finished in the top five eleven times against the best drivers in the country.

“It’s been a lot of fun traveling with Kyle all over the country and experiencing the success that we have had.”

Bloom, a third-generation driver, began his racing career in 2006 at Cottage Grove in the Street Stocks before eventually making the jump up to IMCA Modifieds a few years later. Once he graduated from High School he took a job with the Walt Disney Company which relocated him to central Florida and after a few years away from the racing scene teamed up with Billy Workman Jr., who is also from Oregon and was driving for Kyle Strickler Motorsports at the time, to wrench on his car. Practically ever since then Austin has been with the Strickler team.
