Willamette Speedway would host another exciting round of action as the facility hosted their fifth race of 2014 on Friday July 11th. A great car count was on hand and for the most part it would all be familiar faces in victory lane.

2014 has been a remarkable year for “The Cowboy” Jayden Trupp of Coos Bay. Trupp would lead the Pee Wee main event the entire way to pick up his fifth win of the season in the Dave Foote Racing/Nexdor Tobacco & More/Trupp Family Race Team #72 QRC. Finishing in the runner-up position would be Makayla Patterson from Lebanon in her James Gang Pizza/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools/Rebecca’s Barber Shop/King Office Equipment #47 QRC.

In the 5HP feature both the Open and Intermediate ranks were combined together. Carter Patterson, also from Lebanon and brother to Makayla, got the lead on the initial start. He would lead the whole way in the James Gang Pizza/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools/Rebecca’s Barber Shop/King Office Equipment #47 QRC despite Cottage Grove’s Austin Sause closing in on him.

Austin Sause would place in second in his Harbaugh Clutches #7 QRC followed by the Discount Race Car Parts/Big Sky Landscaping/Absolute Auto Service/Frisbie Motorsports #1W QRC of Skyler Winebarger from Corbett. Roseburg’s Abby Ellison would cross the wire in fourth in her Gibson Taxidermy/Umpqua Oats/HighLine Image & Design #8A QRC while fifth would go to Seth Riggs of Eugene in his Riggs Racing #32 QRC.

In the Rookie Speedway Karts Jerry Fonfara from Keizer was again the entry to beat. Fonfara led from flag to flag to secure his third win of 2014 in the Fonfara Racing #88 Trackmagic machine. Salem’s Calia Mott was a respectable second in her Mott Racing #16 Emmick while the Bob’s OK Tire Store/G&S Machine Inc. #17 entry of Keizer native Jayden Kimball was third.

It was Kyle Roles of Lebanon once again picking up the victory in the 125cc division. Roles would lead from the very beginning to win his third race of the campaign at Willamette and for the Big Sky Landscaping/The Knothole Market/Bunce Equipment/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools #02 QRC team.

Dustin Asher, out of Oregon City, was second in the Checkered Flag Asphalt Paving & Sealcoating/Big Sky Landscaping/Kelly’s Café/McCord Trucking #6A QRC while crossing the wire in third would be Connor Hanson of Creswell in his Hanson Contract Cutting/DT Motorsports/BC Motorsports/Horner’s Inc. #55H QRC. The rest of the top five would consist of Trinity Pendley from Albany in the Linn-Benton Insurance/A.A. Towing/James Gang Pizza #47 QRC in fourth and fifth to McKenzie Lockhart, also from Albany, in the Linn-Benton Insurance/A.A. Towing/James Gang Pizza #29 QRC.

In the Adult Speedway Karts Melissa Aicher of Keizer was seeking her second win in two starts. Aicher, in her Bob's OK Tire Store/G&S Machine Inc. #4 Trackmagic, would lead much of the main but would have mechanical problems surrendering the lead to Dylan Snyder from Amity. Snyder, in his Kart debut and driving for owner Darren Brown, would lead the balance of the distance in the Brown’s Lil’ Go-Kart Shop/World of Karting/Pro Sound Audio Services #7 BKS to score the triumph. Aicher would be a respectable second.

In the 250cc it was a bit of a caution plagued affair but Tyler Thompson would rise to the occasion. Thompson, of Harrisburg, would blaze the trail the whole way to win his second consecutive main event for the Bunce Equipment/Village Green Resort/BC Motorsports/Rocket Designs #77 RFC machine.

Kyle Cormican from Vancouver, Washington would bounce back from some early night woes to finish in second in his Schram Brothers Excavating/RSR Racecraft/Xtreme Motorsports/James Gang Pizza #113 RFC followed by the Berk’s Metal Recycling #48C QRC of Custin Jones from Lebanon in third. Crossing the line in fourth would be Jared Lund from Salem in the Scofield’s Karts & Parts/Dan’s Motorsports/Sureflow Concrete Pumping Services/Crocker’s Cars #99 QRC while behind him in fifth was the Goss Family Racing #22 QRC of Tyler Goss out of Eugene.

In the Open Kage, like the 250cc, it would be a stop and go affair during some of the feature. James, of Albany, would get the lead early and would feel considerable pressure from Winston’s Kyle Alberding as the leaders got into lapped traffic. But with all of the stoppages it would give James an open track to operate with and ease the pressure from behind. James would stay out in front the whole way to win his fourth Open Kage feature in five starts for the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Rainbow Rentals/Schram Brothers Excavating #13 SKE at Willamette Speedway.

Makenzie Thompson from Harrisburg would finish in second place in her Bunce Equipment/Village Green Resort/BC Motorsports/Rocket Designs #1W RFC while in third was the Eoff Electrical Supply/WSK Machine #76 QRC of Kyle Alberding. The rest of the top five would be made up of Matt McDowell from Roseburg in his Gibson Taxidermy/Umpqua Oats/HighLine Image & Designs #8M RFC in fourth and Bend’s Brenden Waterman in the High Desert Hydraulics/Schram Brothers Excavating/Xtreme Motorsports/Oregon Outlaws Speed Shop #29W RFC in fifth.

The lone Micro Sprint being represented was Jeff Broadwell of Springfield. Broadwell piloting the Dorman Construction/X-Factor Race Cars #4B PMP would be credited as the winner for the second time in 2014.

The next time the Karts will be in action at Willamette Speedway will be Friday July 18th for round six. For more information log on to www.trophymotorsports.com.
