For one time during the year the X-Factor Race Cars Super Late Models take their roofs off to compete topless at Willamette Speedway. Saturday June 28th would be that night as the historic 1/3-mile clay oval would host their annual Topless Showdown. Also in action were the Crocker’s Cars Super Sports, Albany & Eastern Railroad Sportsman, and the 4-Cylinders.

John Campos of Keizer was the car to beat for the majority of the X-Factor Race Cars Super Late Model main event. Campos would cruise along in his Northwest Family Chiropractic/Danette Pemberton with Saba/Northern Lights Theatre Pub #36 GRT but would be caught in the closing laps. The driver to catch him for the lead would be Happy Valley’s Justin Duty. Duty would seize the top spot coming to the white flag and would pick up the victory in his Don Frank Flooring/Big Sky Landscaping/Mid Ohio Graphics/Metro Services #15 Rocket for his first triumph of the season.

John Campos was second followed by the J&S Farms/Cornett Racing Engines #37 Rocket of Bend’s Rob Mayea in third. The balance of the top five would consist of Sodaville native Tony Brakeall in his Sureflow Concrete Pumping Service/Liberty Automotive/Swing Construction/James Gang Pizza #13 Swartz in fourth and Portland’s Brian Cronk in fifth in the familiar Metro Services/Dog Lover’s Gold Dog Food/Big Sky Landscaping #29 Rocket.

In Crocker’s Cars Super Sport action Randy Barley of Albany was the race leader chauffeuring his Dennis Automotive and Tires/Charlie James Racing Graphics/Lebanon Auto Body #13B Rayburn. On lap six though Salem’s Gil Pickett would get to the front and lead the rest of the way to capture his second win of the season for him and the Gil Pickett Custom Cabinets/G&B Natural Health/Airport Steel/Santiam Barn & Supply #98 Swartz team.

Bricen James of Albany was second in his James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Sign Express/Rainbow Rentals #13 MasterSbilt while third place was the Crocker’s Cars/Left Coast Motorsports #44 Swartz of Sweet Home’s Brian Thompson. Earning the fourth spot would be Todd Shandy of Albany in the Woodworking Enterprises/Airport Steel/Five Star Drywall #16 Rayburn for car owner Chris Mott and behind him in fifth was Randy Barley.

The Albany & Eastern Railroad Sportsman main event would witness Casey Rhoades of Lebanon blaze the trail early in his Hyer Convenience Store/SpinWare at the Heritage Mall/Sure Flow Concrete Pumping/Omen 5150 Tattoo #J55 entry. But Rhoades would eventually lose the coveted position to Jeff Rash, also from Lebanon. Rash would keep his mount out in front to win his second race of the campaign for car owner Glen Hackney and the Hackney Racing/Wirth Wireless #1 Swartz machine.

Recovering from an early race incident and ending the night second was the Pompe Racing/Storage Depot/X-Factor Race Cars #0P Lawson of Briley Pompe from Philomath while Albany’s Todd Miller in the Linn Benton Insurance/James Gang Pizza #00 Boyd was third. Completing the top five was Coos Bay native Dave Foote in his Jon Inskeep Racing Engines/Dave’s Race Shop/Les Schwab Tires #75 Dirt Works in the number four position and Casey Rhoades ended the night in fifth.

In 4-Cylinder action it was a great battle with several new faces in attendance. When it was all said and done Vancouver, Washington’s Travis Koch got the job done in his North's Plumbing/Dusty's Automotive/Mac Tools #21 Dodge Neon to win in his first visit at Willamette as well as performing a clean sweep of the evening’s events.

Dale Holland was second in the DCM Trucking #18 followed by Troutdale’s Crystal Flath in her McCord Trucking/Outback Steakhouse/Sayre Racing & Customs #1 Dodge Neon in third. Fourth would go to the Rebecca’s Barber Shop/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools #17 Ford Ranger of Becca Parsons from Lebanon and the Rowe Lovvorn of Albany was fifth in his Lovvorn Racing #40 entry.
