Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway will be extremely busy this coming weekend as three events will take place at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval over the course of three dates. Things kick off with a Practice on Friday June 13th followed by Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday the 14th and concluding with the annual Father’s Day Tuff Truck competition on the afternoon of Sunday the 15th.
The Practice on Friday June 13th is slated to last from 4:00 PM to Dusk and is open to any cars in any sort of divisions. Pit Passes are $15.00 while Car/Driver fees are just $25.00. This is a great way for drivers to fine tune their cars and make their mounts even faster.
After hosting a thriller of a Strawberry Cup presented by the fine folks at Wilson’s NAPA Auto Parts last Saturday, Willamette Speedway gets ready for Fan Appreciation Night. Last year this race was a smash hit and is expected to be even better this time around. All cars in competition for the night will be brought out on the track just before opening ceremonies for fans to get autographs, take pictures, etc. with their favorite drivers.
Classes in action include the X-Factor Race Cars Super Late Models, Wirth Wireless IMCA Modifieds, Crocker’s Cars Super Sports, Albany & Eastern Railroad Sportsman, Street Stocks, and 4-Cylinders while the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will be in the house to take on the local Late Model contingent. Pit Gates will open at 1:00 PM, the Pit Meeting will take place at 2:30, Front Gates open at 3:30, and Racing starts at 6:00. Tickets for this event are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
A special format will be utilized including qualifying, trophy dashes, and main events so that means no heat races unfortunately. Also the Cars Of Stars promotion will take place allowing fans to a chance to walk away with a 1:24 die-cast of possibly their favorite driver courtesy of Highoctane Die Cast as several of them will be raffled off.
In X-Factor Race Cars Super Late Model competition Rob Mayea is coming off a very successful outing during last week’s Strawberry Cup presented by Wilson’s NAPA Auto Parts and Mayea was the big winner in the feature. Joey Tanner is the only driver to have won twice in the division while drivers joining him with just a single trip to victory lane includes John Duty, Steve Moore, and Mayea.
Like in 2013 the Wirth Wireless IMCA Modifieds have seen the wins spread around in 2014. In six races there have been six different faces in the winner's circle. That list includes Kyle Yeack, Collen Winebarger, Monte Bischoff, Craig Cassell, Matt Mitchell, and Jeremy Shank.
In the Crocker’s Cars Super Sports Bricen James became the first driver to become a repeat winner last week. Gil Pickett and Tim Archer so far are the only other chauffeurs to have won this year in the classification both on just one occasion.
Incredibly the Albany & Eastern Railroad Sportsman, like the Wirth Wireless IMCA Modifieds, have yet to see a repeat winner in 2014. Six drivers have emerged victorious including Ron Berry, Briley Pompe, Jeff Rash, Brian Winkler, Jeff Marson, and most recently Brian Smith.
Justin Evans still leads the Street Stocks in the win column during this year. Evans has amassed two victories while drivers with just a single win include Bricen James and Kyle Yeack. This Saturday will mark the second 4-Cylinder event of the year and in the first one Dale Holland was the big winner.
Then Sunday June 15th the annual Father’s Day Tuff Truck competition will take place during the afternoon. Not only will there be Tuff Trucks but also Trash Cars and Side-By-Side ATV vehicles in action. The Pit Gates/Front Gates open at 11:00 AM while the event will get underway around 1:00 PM. Tickets for this event are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE.
