Lebanon, Oregon- 2013 seen the return of the Crocker Cars Super Sports back to Willamette Speedway after being absent from the venue since 2010. With their return fans were happy to see them back and got to see some great racing from them at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval. Steve Moore would pick up the title that year to earn his first career championship at Willamette Speedway.

“The Super Sports will be interesting to say the least this year,” commented current Willamette Speedway announcer Cory Penfold,” there are guys that will be moving up into the class and some guys moving out of it. The duo of Bob Jeffrey and Gil Pickett will be a tough combination to beat and look out for guys like Brian Thompson and Clay Debban. It’s a fun class with real good mix of younger guys and veterans.”

In 2014 the Super Sports will be in action a total of eighteen times. Courtesy of Crockers Cars on Saturday June 7th at the Napa Auto Parts Strawberry Cup they will be competition for some extra money as it will be $500.00 to win and a $250.00 bonus to the driver that can pass the most cars in the main event.

Last season there were nine different feature winners in fourteen completed events. Gil Pickett and Steve Moore won the most main events as each achieved three wins during the course of the year. Bob Jeffrey was the only other driver to win more than once as he visited victory lane twice in 2013. A whole bunch of drivers though made their way to the winner’s circle just once. That list comprised of Clay Debban, Mike Betkar, Dennis Archer, Brian Smith, Rand Barley, and Danny Altom.

The 2014 season is quickly approaching and Willamette Speedway is the place to get your racing fix. Saturday April 5th will kick things off with the test and tune open practice while the “Cabin Fever Season Opener” will be held the following Saturday on the 12th.
