Lebanon, Oregon- For years Friday nights at Willamette Speedway mostly meant a chance for drivers to shake down their car before the big race on Saturday. To fine tune their machines and troubleshoot any hiccups their mounts were giving them. Well Friday night practices are back on select dates at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval in 2014 after a couple of years hiatus.
“After not having practices for the last couple years drivers started giving us feedback,” commented Willamette Speedway Track Manager Chris Nofziger, “they told us that they felt they would be more competitive if there were a night or two during the year where they could come out and just figure stuff out. With us bringing practices I think fans will see our already quality competition get even tougher.”
As mentioned practices will be held not every Friday but a total of four times once the first race gets in. The first opportunity for cars to hit the track in 2014 will be two scheduled Test and Tune events on Saturday April 5th and the following Friday on the 11th. The first race of the upcoming campaign is slated for Saturday the 12th.
The four remaining dates for practices are Friday May 23rd, June 13th, June 27th, and August 22nd. These events are scheduled to start at 4:00 PM and will last until dusk. Spectators wanting to watch from the grandstands will get in through the front gates for FREE while pit passes are $15.00 each and car and driver entries are $30.00.
