Glaser, Berry, Cronk, And Croy Willamette Winners On Crockers Cars Night
By Ben Deatherage
The Willamette Speedway was the place to be once again as a terrific night of action would take place for Crockers Cars Night on Saturday August 3rd. The DIRTcar Super Late Models, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks were all on hand for competition on the 1/3-mile clay oval.
Trevor Glaser of Tangent would capture his impressive tenth feature in the DIRTcar Super Late Models. Ironically he would take the lead on the tenth lap and not look back as he would put his Bayer Crop Science/Farmland Tractor Supply/Ground And Water #2 Trak-Star in victory lane once more.
The Les Schwab Tire Center/Prehn's Performance Engineering #97 Rayburn of Salem’s Ron Berry and the Hackney Racing #0 of Clyde Rood from Lebanon put on a terrific battle in the Sportsman division for the top spot. Berry was able to secure the lead in the later stages to win his second race of the season.
Salem ace Randy Jackson looked to be on his way to his first of the year in the main event for the Street Stocks on Saturday. The veteran driver in the #24C Camaro was the car to beat but seven-time champion David Cronk, of Portland, closed in on him. Cronk would go for the gusto on the final laps and make the pass on the front stretch in photo finish style. The win for Cronk would be the sixth of the year in his Metro Services/Gassner Trucking #29 Camaro.
Don Croy would pick up win number seven of 2013 in the Mini Truck ranks. Croy, from Prineville, would capture the lead early and not look back. Cory’s Carson Oil/Guy’s Automotive and Lube/Prineville Sign and Banner #24 Toyota struggled earlier in the night but come main event time he would take care of business.
Willamette Speedway will be in action for two nights this weekend. The weekend will be kicked off on Friday August 9th with Karts and Saturday the 10th will have an action packed night of excitement on the 1/3-mile clay oval. Classes competing on Saturday include the IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks. The IMCA Modified will participate in a forty-lap special that you do not want to miss. For more information log on to www.trophymotorsports.com or call (360)-699-RACE.
