Fans of Willamette Speedway were treated to some wonderful racing last Saturday night on July 20th. The historic 1/3-mile venue hosted their annual Mid-Season Championship event marking the halfway point to the 2013 season. All six classes were on hand which included the DIRTcar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks.

After a rough early part of the night which saw his wreck in time trials Trevor Glaser recovered nicely to pick up his ninth main event win of the campaign. The Tangent hot shoe would start the feature in eighth and was able to track the leaders down to take over the top spot. The decisive move for Glaser was when he mastered a late race restart which allowed him to check out and put his Bayer Crop Science/Farmland Tractor Supply/Ground And Water #2 Trak-Star pack in the winner’s circle.

In the IMCA Modified main event Brody Pompe of Philomath led much of the way. The X-Factor Race Cars/Global Auto #P0 X-Factor entry had the high line figured out but utilizing the bottom and keeping his patience Albany’s Craig Cassell looked to take the race lead. Cassell would eventually overtake Pompe for the victory to earn his second win of the season for him and his esterleemotel.com/Mid-Valley Farms #25 Rocket mount.

In the Super Sport division Scio’s Steve Moore was quite quick and was seeking his second win of 2013 in his Xtreme Motorsports/Bodies By Steve-O/Schram Brothers Excavating #21 MasterSbilt. But with ten to go Bob Jeffrey would get around him to seize the lead and seize the win. The victory would be the second win of the season for the Albany chauffeur in the Pickett Custom Cabinets/Jeffrey Masonry #98 Swartz. Todd Miller of Albany would have the field covered in the Sportsman division earning his third win of the campaign. Miller now has the most wins in the division after he dominated the completion Saturday in his Linn Benton Insurance/James Gang Pizza #00 Boyd.

In the Street Stocks Portland’s David Cronk was back in victory lane in his Metro Services/Gasner Trucking #29 Camaro. Cronk would start up front and kept all challengers in check picking up his fifth victory of 2013. In the Mini Truck ranks Don Croy would win main event number six. The Prineville native in his Carson Oil/Guy’s Automotive and Lube/Prineville Sign and Banner #24 Toyota would have the field covered.
