Willamette Speedway had a nice smooth weekend for the most part take place. On Friday July 12th the Kart program was in action (results below) while Saturday the 13th would have the 1/3-mile in competition. Classes on the card would include the IMCA Modifieds, DIRTcar Super Late Models, Super Sports, and Street Stocks.
The IMCA Modifieds were the headliner of the evening as they would participate in a feature that would have one-hundred laps be the distance. The early lead of the night would be the Mountain View Woodworking/Unlimited Business Service/Cascade Outdoor Power Equipment #49 Pro of Crawfordsville’s Tom Yeack.
Yeack would pace the field for the first eighteen laps or so before being overtaken by Jeremy Shank. Shank, of Salem, in turn would set the pace in his Left Coast Motorsports/South Pacific Auto Sales and Service Center #30 Swartz but would lose the lead when Jacksonville’s Mark Wauge would throw a slider to pass for the top spot right around the quarter mark of the distance.
Wauge would keep his Skinner Autoplex/Meineke Car Care Center/Hoppes Construction #1M Loose Gruff out in front despite a valiant charge from Shank in the closing laps. It would mark Wauge’s first win of 2013 at the Willamette Speedway.
The “Year Of Glaser” continues to unfold as Trevor Glaser picked up his eighth win of the campaign at Willamette. Glaser, of Tangent, would lead the entire distance with the only thing slowing him down being a handful of cautions that would take place. Mastering the restarts Glaser and his Bayer Crop Science/Farmland Tractor Supply/Ground and Water #2 Trak-Star would end the night in victory lane once again.
The Super Sports would feature an incident filled main event. Surviving the carnage though was Lebanon’s Danny Altom. It would mark the first win of the year for the chauffeur of the Cornwell Tool/Rebecca’s Barber Shop #5 mount. Bricen James would collect his fourth Street Stock main event win of 2013 after getting the lead with just ten laps to go. James, from Albany, is now tied for most wins in the division and continues to lead the points table in his James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Rainbow Rentals #13 Monte Carlo.
Willamette Speedway will be full of action next Saturday night on July 20th. The night will mark the official halfway point of the 2013 campaign for Mid-Season Championship Night. Classes competing will include the DIRTCar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks.
