Carrell’s Modified Clinic In Session At Willamette

Lebanon, Oregon- For opening night at Willamette Speedway on Saturday April 20th Mark Carrell had the car to beat. The Redmond native would thump the competition come main event time to lead the entire distance a pick a clean sweep of the night’s action. Starting on the pole position it would be the first win in a few years at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval for the chauffer of the Mark’s Auto Body #27 GRT by Phillips entry.
“I’m really not familiar with this car but it really seems to fit my driving style,” commented Carrell, “we got lucky in the pill draw and just drove away. It was a really smooth night.”
Vernon “Bubba” Foster of Dayton in the Busy Bee Cleaning/Pam Pam’s Auto Wrecking #68 Alien had a respectable runner-up finish followed by Albany’s Craig Cassell in his Esterlee Motel/Mid-Valley Farms #25 Rocket. Completing the top five finishers included the A-Line Concrete Cutting/Shepherd Performance #15M Rayburn of Vancouver, Washington driver Matt Mitchell in fourth and Curtis Towns of Cottage Grove in the SKS Racing #24 X-Factor. Carrell would be victorious in the only heat race of the night to make it a clean sweep.
The IMCA Modifieds will be back in action on Saturday April 27th for their second race of 2013. Also in action will be DIRTcar Super Late Models, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. For more information log on to www.trophymotorsports.com.
